CSI DIOCESE OF MADURAI – RAMNAD
A GLANCE ABOUT DIOCESAN HOMES & HOSTELS
CSI Diocese of Madurai – Ramnad consists of six revenue Districts viz Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sivagangai, Theni, Dindigul & Ramnanathapuram Districts.
Our Diocesan jurisdiction has covered 165 kms. radius from Madurai rendering services in spiritual, educational, social, medical and other services for the welfare of the people.
Due to the Central Government interference, the Compassion India has stopped to support the sponsorship programme of our seven Diocesan projects from April 2017 which is a Day Care Centre activities.. Through these projects 1786 Children and 84 staff were benefited. At present the Compassion project is not functioning with all the activities due to the lack of financial support. The respective project has raised some funds from the local people to run the project with minimum staff and children.
CSI Board of Child Care Ministry & KNH are supporting the residential child care projects in 9 places in our Diocese. 668 Normal children and 388 Special children are studying in our diocesan schools from the residential child care projects. KNH has planned to gradually reduce their Child sponsorship programme from 2018 April onwards .
World Vision of India is supporting 200 special children in 4 places of our Diocese for polio and Mentally Retarded children. They have also decided to support not more than 200 children.
Apart from the above child sponsorship funding projects in our Diocese there are 16 (DEEP Hostels - Diocesan Educational Enable Programme )with 1229 children. These hostels are running with the support of the local people and the School Teachers to provide free education, food and other aids. Main reason for starting the Deep Hostels is to reduce the drop out rural children from their studies and strengthen the school strength & nominal roll and also to avoid the deployment of the teachers in the schools.
Our Diocese has planned to mobilize funds for sustaining the COMPASSION Projects and DEEP Hostels in the future.
